We are pleased to be serving clients as a part of the WorkSafeBC provider network. Our therapists provide mobile occupational therapy services to those who have been injured at work.

Areas of treatment:

  • Physical injuries
  • Brain injuries/cognitive issues
  • Mental health / psychosocial concerns.

Occupational therapists are crucial in assessing whether a worker is able to meet their job demands. They will do this in a number of ways including:

Worker evaluation: Occupational therapists can assess a worker’s physical and functional tolerances for their job demands. They can also utilize feedback from the worker’s physician, physiotherapist and kinesiologist.

Worksite visit: Occupational therapists are able to visit the workplace and examine first hand the tasks that a worker is required to complete. Information about accommodations, and ability to create a customized return to work plan for the worker can be explored. Occupational therapists may also recommend changes to a worker’s workspace, equipment adaptations or task modifications to ensure they are able to return to work safely.

Ergonomic workstation assessments: Occupational therapists can examine a worker’s posture, positioning and movements while performing their job demands to determine whether changes to the workstation, or worker positioning can be made to ensure a workstation is safe for a worker.

Return to work planning: Our therapists have established expertise in determining the appropriate length and accommodations that may be required when assisting a worker with returning to work. They will create a customized return-to-work plan in collaboration with the worker, employer and rehabilitation team.

Exposure therapy: Our therapists have taken extensive training and developed expertise in providing exposure therapy to injured workers. Exposure therapy involves gradually exposing a worker to situations/items/environments they may have developed a fear of. They ensure to create a safe and therapeutic environment when providing exposure therapy.
